Start your journey in Nairobi, Kenya, and explore East Africa. In addition to the Masai Mara National Reserve and the Serengeti National Park, there are also Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti National Park on the continent. A number of game drives will provide you with the opportunity to view the Big Five and other majestic animals. Discover the cultures of the Maasai and Hadzabe tribes and be amazed by the vastness of Africa’s largest lake as you explore this region. You will have the opportunity to learn about their ancient customs and modern way of living from their wise elders.

What To Expect

Day 1: Nairobi, Kenya

At 6pm on the first night of your adventure, you will meet your local leader and the other travellers with whom you will be traveling. You may wish to explore the Karen Blixen Museum, the National Museum of Kenya, or the Bomas of Kenya, where traditional homesteads of several Kenyan tribes are displayed in an outdoor village if you arrive early. After meeting your new travel companions, participate in an optional group dinner or opt to dine independently.

Day 2: Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

Embark on an unforgettable journey from Nairobi to the world-renowned Masai Mara, one of Africa’s premier game reserves! Your adventure begins with a stop in the remote Loita Hills, a stronghold of traditional Maasai culture. Experience authentic Maasai life at the Tepesua Village, a community dedicated to women’s health and education. Be welcomed by vibrant Maasai song and dance before gaining invaluable insights into this remarkable ancient culture. Visit the Tepesua Widows Village, a haven providing support and economic empowerment through the Tepesua Widows Income Project. Day 4: Lake Victoria, Tanzania

Prepare for a scenic travel day as you journey towards the Kenya-Tanzania border, your destination the magnificent Lake Victoria. This vast lake, the primary source of the Nile River, the world’s longest, graces the shores of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Upon arrival, relax and unwind with a lakeside dinner, contemplating the sheer scale of the world’s largest tropical lake.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Start your day with a leisurely morning, soaking in the stunning views of Lake Victoria bathed in the morning light. Before hitting the road, stock up on supplies at the local market and withdraw cash, as the next three days will be spent immersed in the wilderness. Journey to the legendary Serengeti National Park, famed for its unparalleled wildlife and vast, open landscapes. Enter the park and embark on an unforgettable “scenic safari route” commute to your permanent tented campsite. Capture incredible photos of abundant wildlife and breathtaking vistas along the way. Tonight, experience a true African safari adventure, camping in an unfenced site deep within the heart of the Serengeti. After dinner, gather around the campfire, sharing stories and falling asleep to the symphony of the African bush.

Day 6: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Awake to another breathtaking day in Serengeti National Park! An early morning 4×4 safari awaits, offering prime wildlife viewing when animals are most active. Return to camp for a leisurely brunch, then relax during the midday heat, just like the animals! This afternoon, embark on another thrilling game drive through the park. Conclude your day with dinner at the campsite and another magical night under the Serengeti’s starlit sky.

Day 7: Karatu, Tanzania

Embark on a final Serengeti game drive as you depart the park. Journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the crater in open-roof 4×4 jeeps, offering exceptional close-up wildlife viewing. Enjoy breathtaking rim views as you descend to the crater floor, a diverse landscape teeming with wildebeest, lions, zebras, cheetahs, buffalo, gazelles, endangered black rhinos, and Maasai people. This afternoon, depart the crater and travel to Karatu, your base for the next two nights.

Day 8: Karatu, Tanzania

Journey to the vast seasonal soda lake, Lake Eyasi, home to the Hadzabe people for over 10,000 years. Experience a rare glimpse into this ancient, uninfluenced culture. Meet community members and participate in daily activities like hunting, gathering, and traditional dance. Learn about their unique click language, one of the world’s oldest. Return to your Karatu lodge for an afternoon of relaxation.

Day 9: Arusha, Tanzania

Enjoy a free day in Karatu! Relax or choose from a variety of exciting optional activities. Explore a local coffee plantation, embark on a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, or hike to the Elephant Caves in the Ngorongoro Reserve Forest. This invigorating hike, accompanied by an expert local guide and an armed ranger, is the perfect way to stretch your legs after your safari adventures. Trek through the Ngorongoro rainforest, learning about the area’s ecosystem from your guide, who will point out fascinating animal tracks and footprints. Admire the stunning landscape and diverse birdlife along the way. This afternoon, travel to Arusha for your final night.

Day 10: Stone Town, Tanzania

Say goodbye to your safari crew this morning and transfer to Arusha Airport for your included flight to Stone Town, Zanzibar. While you’ll be traveling independently for the rest of your trip, local representatives will be available to assist you. Zanzibar, a captivating archipelago, boasts pristine beaches, bustling markets, and a rich, layered history. This island paradise reflects its past as a hub of the slave trade, a residence of Arabian sultans, and a vibrant blend of Swahili and Islamic cultures. Explore the labyrinthine streets of Stone Town on a self-guided walk, or relax at a seafront bar, enjoying the ocean breeze and a refreshing cocktail. To delve deeper into Stone Town’s history, a local representative can arrange an optional afternoon tour.

Day 11: Nungwi, Tanzania

Drive out of Stone Town this morning and take a tour of the spice plantations, or head directly to the northern beaches, which are pristine and in perfect condition. The spice plantations are a great way to learn about the history of this town’s renowned spice trade if you chose to explore them. Taste a number of spices  including cinnamon, vanilla and ginger before touching, smelling and tasting some delicious teas! You may spend the afternoon at leisure on the northern beaches, where white sand and sparkling blue waters await you. Definitely one of the best examples of the Indian Ocean.

Day 12: Nungwi, Tanzania

The perfect way to start your day is to wake up in paradise and walk along the pristine coast before enjoying a beachside breakfast. This morning there will be an included dhow cruise and snorkeling trip among the incredible tropical fish in the transparent waters. There is plenty of free time in the late afternoon to relax in a hammock underneath a coconut tree or to dine on freshly caught sumptuous seafood.

Day 13: Nungwi, Tanzania

Today is the last day of your trip. We will be pleased to assist with transfers to and from Stone Town Airport or the ferry terminal should you require them at the time of booking. Accommodations can be pre-booked in Stone Town or at your beach resort if you wish to extend your stay on this island paradise.
