Known as the “Whiskey Route,” the Machame Route is celebrated for its breathtaking scenery, diverse ecosystems, and one of the highest summit success rates due to its excellent acclimatization profile.

Your journey begins in the lush rainforest at Machame Gate, where you’ll trek through ancient forests alive with wildlife before ascending into moorlands, alpine deserts and the dramatic volcanic landscapes of the Shira Plateau and Lava Tower. Extra acclimatization days at Shira Plateau and Karanga Camp help your body adjust to the altitude, increasing your chances of successfully reaching the summit.

The highlight of the expedition is the exhilarating midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak, where you’ll stand on the Roof of Africa as the sun rises over the glaciers and endless plains of Tanzania. After celebrating this once in a lifetime achievement, descend through changing ecological zones to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your official summit certificate.

Led by experienced, licensed mountain guides and supported by a dedicated team of porters and cooks, this expedition combines adventure, safety and comfort. Whether you’re an experienced trekker or a determined first time climber in good physical condition, this tour offers an unforgettable journey to one of the world’s greatest natural wonders.
