Awash National Park lies at the southern tip of the Afar Region, about 225 kilometers east of Addis Ababa. The Awash River forms the park’s southern boundary before curving northward and eventually disappearing into the Afar (Danakil) lowlands. Covering 827 square kilometers and situated mostly at an altitude of around 900 meters, the park is dominated by the impressive dormant Fantale Volcano, which rises to 2,007 meters at its summit.
This private two-day tour from Addis Ababa offers a rich wildlife experience, taking you deep into Awash National Park to observe its diverse animal and birdlife. During the tour you can expect to encounter Beisa oryx, warthogs, crocodiles, kudu, gazelles, baboons, and a wide range of lowland bird species, all set against the park’s dramatic volcanic landscapes and Rift Valley scenery.
